Leadership Day - School Uniforms
To require students in public schools to wear school uniforms.
Pro
Con
Students will not face breaking the school dress code.
If students cannot pay for the uniform everyone else’s prices are raised.
Staff will not worry about inappropriate dressing.
Students may rebel and not follow the new protocol
Schools will configure the rules and penalties.
Students may complain about the physical aspects of the uniform.
Prevent students from stressing about the brand of their clothing.
School uniforms will restrict the outward expression of a child's unique individuality
Uniforms make identification of children who belong to the school and those that don't easy.
Students are more likely to be confused by teachers and will not answer to being called the wrong name.
No morning fights between student and parent about clothes.
You have to have multiples or do laundry every night.
You do not have to buy as much clothing, and therefore, you save money
The administration gets picky about falling hems, pins, scotch tape, etc, so you have to maintain them.
It prepares children for working life where they often need to wear uniforms, or at the least dress conservatively or follow a dress code
It may give certain schools bad reputations because of select students that chose bad decisions.
There would be no bullying because you are not wearing cool clothes. For example in high school you are judged on what clothes you wear or whether or not your family has a lot of money. This way there will be no groups or in crowd.
Students will not be able to express individuallity and would not be able to motify unifroms to make it their own, because of dress codes.
You will no longer have to debate what to wear the night before or in the morning and waste time instead you would wear the same thing everyday.
If you don't have a washer and dryer you would spend a lot of money on laundimats because you would only have a certain amount of unifroms and they cost a lot of money just for one.
You will have more time for sleeping in the morning.
If the students often lost part of their uniforms, their parents would constantly have to replace them..
If a student lost their uniform on short notice and their parents didnt have enough money at the time they couldn't got to school for a day or 2(or until their parents could pay for it).
Students may try to make their uniform their own by stitching new colors in, cutting skirts shorter, etc and parents would have to pay for a new one.
